Normsweb.com is back (and now it's Faster!)

Can you believe it? My website, which was already designed to be fast on slow connections, has now become even faster...

Unfortunately, (or rather fortunately) my website had become so popular that it exceeded the bandwidth on it's free host and was blocked. This was a pain, as I couldn't afford to pay for hosting. I began a search for a new free host and eventually signed up to *****.com (name withheld for legal reasons), who were offering a fantastic deal. I tried without success on many occasions to log-in to this new host to upload the site, only to be told to try using a different browser (!).

Although I hate Microsoft's hold on the market, I didn't want to change my browser. I have been using Internet Explorer ever since I had my first windows PC. Why should I change my browser just because one badly programmed site is moaning. I e-mailed the site on numerous occasions hoping to find a work around solution. I'm still waiting for a reply...

Thankfully, whilst waiting, I had a small windfall. I decided to leave my site where it was and pay for a years hosting. (don't know what I'll do next year... I'll work that out when the time comes)

Paid hosting = No advert banners. Without banners, I was able to re-design my site using frames. This meant that I only needed to load my "header"once. This makes navigating within normsweb.com very fast. (yay!)

Please feel free to contact me with any comments.

www.iwf.org.uk

This is the web address you need when you want to report any "dodgy" website's that you may come across whilst surfing the net.

I came upon a very "dodgy" site last night and immediately phoned the local police, who told me to go to this website and report it.

You can remain anonymous, but, if like me, you got nothing to hide, you just fill in a simple form and they will e-mail you back. I've not heard back as yet as i've only just reported it. I'll update the site with more info as and when.

UPDATE: They sent a confirmation e-mail to say that they would look into the site. However, if the site was not based in the UK, they may not be able to close it down. This must be the case, as the site is still running :-(

Unsolicited Mail From Normsweb:

If you have received junk e-mail with or without an infected attachment, that has supposedly come from me, I can only apologize.

It has been brought to my attention that some people have been receiving junk mail again that has been sent by my staff here at normsweb.com Believe it or not I myself have been sent junk mail from fake addresses's relating to my site. Some examples are:

service@normsweb, support@normsweb, staff@normsweb technical@normsweb and even webmaster@normsweb.com was used in one I received. Most e-mails were signed "the normsweb.com team"

I run normsweb.com on my own, from my flat here in Cornwall. I don't have any team to rely on and I definitely can't afford to hire any staff! So I was astounded and furious when I received an e-mail from my "team" saying that if I did not click on the link immediately, my access to normsweb.com would be suspended!

Normsweb.com is a stand alone website and is not affiliated with any other Normsweb site or any other site. I have never and will never knowingly send unsolicited (junk) e-mails. I believe that any site that has to rely on tactics like that to raise their hit-count should be blacklisted.

Please forward any suspect e-mails that you may have received from my site to me with "SUSPECT MAIL" as the subject and I will endeavor to find out from where it originated.

This has happened before. At that time, NETSKY virus was infection. I have not yet figured what the infection is this time, but for some general info and to learn about NETSKY virus Click Here

Spam Alert:

Watch out for some supposed new software called SPAM ARREST.

What they do is to send you loads of junk mail, usually way over 100 per day (some with attachments and some with links to click on), then send a mail from a different address suggesting that if you are getting over 100 junk mails per day, you should click the link to sign up with or download SPAM ARREST.

DO NOT click the link, OR open any of the attachments. The attachments are infected and from what I can see the links are not good to click on either.

There may be some legitimate software called Spam Arrest, but all I know is that you won't get it from any link in any of the e-mails. I received about 170 junk mails from them today, I wonder how many they'll send tomorrow???
